It’s got too hot to keep publishing the Prince of Demons. Dark Horse Comics has formally pulled the plug on Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys. From THR:
Dark Horse Comics has dropped Neil Gaiman, cancelling his Anansi Boys comic series, in the wake of sexual assault allegations brought against the author.
The publisher posted to X Friday night writing, “Dark Horse takes seriously the allegations against Neil Gaiman and we are no longer publishing his works. Confirming that the ‘Anansi Boys’ comic series and collected volume have been canceled.
The comic books are the latest projects in Gaiman’s creative catalogue that have paused or been canceled in light of the news, which Gaiman addressed on his personal blog, denying the allegations.
Dark Horse is the latest company to end their relationship with Gaiman. Netflix’s Sandman season 2 is mostly in the can at this point. I’m told they were trying to find a way to ‘Batgirl’ it, but contractual commitments to advertisers have complicated matters.
Amazon is likewise stuck with its third and final season of Good Omens. The story is being truncated and will end with a 90-minute episode, that Amazon claims is 100% Gaiman-free.
Disney on the other hand decided it didn’t want the contamination under any circumstances and took their Graveyard Book project behind the barn, where a forlorn shot was heard to ring out.
The painful truth is being faced. The Gaiman scandal isn’t getting better with time.
It just occurred to me why you never see any reruns of I Spy or the Cosby Show.
All these deals down the drain because he couldn’t stop himself from sexually assaulting others. I just feel bad for all the crew and artists whose time and work was wasted due to the association with Neil Gaiman.
