I think the titular hero in Flint might be an exception to the rule that L'Amour's protagonists are always Deltas. If Flint's a Delta, the circumstances he's thrust into make him at least a situational Sigma. It's my favorite L'Amour for that reason. Curious what you think, if you've read it.
I have not read FLINT though I just read the description from Robert Weinberg's LOUIS L'AMOUR COMPANION. Even Turk Madden and Ponga Jim Mayo from the pulp adventure stories are Deltas.
Not a mystery his books were so popular. Postwar America was built and maintained by G.I. and Silent Generation Deltas, who liked to kick back with an escapist novel after the work week.
Sounds like Stark's wife is a wee bit hypergamous?
Probably misidentified some Ds as Bs and confused the SSH with the manosphere/PUA usage of alpha and beta, but I think it is still an interesting art-imitates-life example regarding the SSH.

Flint is the only L'Amour that survived my many purges due to moving country.
Zane Grey and Max Brand may have invented the Western as a true literary genre, but L'Amour built on their innovations and perfected it.

The SSH was applied to some characters in a western movie (The Searchers) on my blog, once. Somebody here might find it interesting: https://www.virtualpulp.net/2014/09/08/john-wayne-textbook-alpha-male/
