These were masterpieces. It's a shame there were so few of them. The art and animation are still fantastic, as you say, but what I like even better was that Superman may have been super, but he was still a MAN. He was fallible. A robot, a giant ape, or a destructo-beam could knock him down, so the Kryptonite plot device was completely unnecessary. These cartoons are so much fun to watch.
The professional rivalry between Clark and Lois is really fun, too.
The disc release of the 4K restoration is apparently not worth buying since they went through all the effort to clean up the shorts, only to DNR them to hell and back in the same way that James Cameron's AI upscaling crap made his films look like smeary moving wax sculptures.
I've always showed these to my children and grandkids first. Superman was I every way Superman.
