There was so much dumb during Marvel’s Alonso era, it’s hard to point to something and say, “That’s the worst.”
…
I’ve thought that over, and it’s easy, Captain Marvel. She was the worst of the Alonso era but a close second would be the castration of Frank Castle. The Left went full-on freaking anti-cop during the mostly peaceful riots of 2020. I don’t think there were a lot of cops doing the burning, looting, pillaging, but that didn’t seem to matter.
These retards who mostly live in cities decided to start firing cops and had the nerve to be surprised that crime got worse in the absence of people whose job it was to stop it.
The Communist lesbians who were running Marvel at the time wanted to do something to show their support. Since they didn’t have any law enforcement they could fire they went after the most visible enforcer under their control.
Frank Castle was ritually humiliated. His wife, whose murder was his prime motivator and foundation of his character, was resurrected to cuck him and kill him.
That done. A new Punisher (Joe Garrison) with a Dollar General knock-off version of the legendary Punisher logo was called into existence. The excuse was that the “Patriot Front” was using it. Translation: the cops liked it.
However, in 2023 Victoria Alonso was unceremoniously shit-canned after the abject failure of Antman 3. Joe Garrison was kept around for a while because the sentiments she championed were still very much embedded in Disney/ Marvel.
While I’m sure those fashions in creative reality are still there, certain other realities that the 2024 election represented have now found their way to the pages of Marvel. Frank Castle is somehow finding his way across the river Styx to become the Punisher, and to let you know it’s the real one, they are returning to the much more merchandising-friendly OG Punisher logo. I’m betting Disney marketing had a collective stroke when they heard that had been replaced with this:
The problem is, even though they are returning to the original Frank Castle, it’s still Disney Marvel producing it.
This is not a company that has earned your trust.
You know has don’t you?
The Punisher’s Dad. The Legend Chuck Dixon.
Look for a new series to launch on Arktoons… (T)he much-anticipated Black Warrant from Chuck Dixon. Imagine The Punisher, if the character was more ruthless, more motivated by justice than by revenge, and if he wasn’t being held back by the limitations imposed upon The Legend by Marvel Comics.
But wait there’s more! Black Warrant is eventually going to be available as a comic book.
And just one more thing; (this is an authorized leak), Black Warrant is in development as a feature film.

Good to hear the black warrant news. I’ll be buying that .
Frank Castle has always been one of my favorite Marvel Comics characters. While I know that there are different iterations of him via the live-action Television show, cartoon shows, animated movies, several live-action movies, videogames, and comics - I do of course have my own ideas as a writer & over all fan as to what I think sticks & what doesn't.
1) A military tactical assassin would not run into a building screaming bloody-murder as he systematically neutralized an amassment of human targets. He'd be calm, calculating, & intentional. While certainly there is a time & place for going full-on berserker - unless it seems fitting from a tactical stand-point - it's best to be calm like a dentist or something.
2) I like how Captain America has always been The Punisher's hero. He's truly patriotic & does have a code of conduct whether everyone is able to see it or not. Explaining things doesn't change the reality of situations & there is a niceness to someone who could care less about explaining & talking - but just wants to get things done.
3) Essentially, some of the same reasons that I like The Punisher are reasons why I like DC Comics RED HOOD. The Red Hood realizes that all of the crime isn't going to be stopped, but that it can be controlled - largely through fear. Moreover, he believes that those who are to crazy or dangerous to be on some sort of leash simply need to be taken out due to the threat that they pose to society at large. The Red Hood sees the criminally bad comic book logic in Batman letting individuals like the Joker live (i.e. even though he has died a few times. LOL!)
As for me, I have my own PUNISHER-type character coming via my upcoming HELLFIRE series. He'll make his debut in HELLFIRE ANNUAL #1. Mine has a lot of unique details to him that I don't want to disclose prior to the book's release. I don't mind saying that he's an assassin for the CIA though. *Beyond my upcoming creations, Chuck Dixon has HORSEMAN & LEVON CADE. Mike Baron has his PRIVATE AMERICAN. Then the most recent that I have heard of is Mark Millar's PSYCHIC SAM - that'll be hitting on readers/viewers through multiple mediums. Needless to say, other creators have brought other characters to life who're similar in nature. And perceivable deficiency by one party creates an opportunity for others. You've just got to pick up the ball & run with it. Right?
At the end of the day, I don't just think all of this kind of thing hinges on writing & art, but the marketing matters. Frankly (no pun intended), I'd love to discuss all of that with you more.

PS: I picked up GREEN ARROW #1 from the 1980s & it is amazing + dark + violent. Wow!
