I still remember the founder of suckerpunch games telling me how they had a brainstormed list of possible names. One of the wives saw it and said, "they're all fine, I guess. Except that one. Do not pick that one."
Aliens vs. Predator 2: It's an improvement on the first PC game in every conceivable way. Better graphics, better story, better levels and gameplay, you name it. The Alien campaign in particular is a real highlight, letting you experience every part of the beast's life cycle, including your violent birth by chewing through your host's rib cage. The multiplayer was also awesome since each of the 3 playable characters was completely different, with Marines relying on heavy weaponry, Aliens on sneak attacks and surprise, and the Predators a little of both. Another one that you can't play today unless you steal it (or bought it when it came out, like me).
TRON 2.0: Was a better sequel to the original movie than the actual movie Disney made 7 years later. Once again expands on the movie in cool ways and is just fun as hell to play.
Finally, F.E.A.R. might have the best shotgun in the entire FPS genre.

Long live guys building games.
"Unacceptable Simian Casualties"
Gotta reinstall that at some point. Love NOLF!
The Didn't Earn It mentality has killed a lot of games studios.
The lesson here is when you try to make games nobody wants, you fail, hard.
A couple of other standouts worth mentioning:
